Naji Marshall will remain with the Mavericks for 3 years and $52.2 million, and will wear jersey number 3 next season.

The Dallas Mavericks announced on Sunday that they have reached an early contract extension with Naji Marshall. According to a previous report by ESPN's Shams Charania, the two sides agreed to a three-year, fully guaranteed contract worth $52.2 million.

NBA insider Marc Stein further pointed out that Marshall's new contract will take effect starting in the 2027/28 season. His salary for the 2027/28 season is projected to be $18.2 million, decreasing to $17.3 million and $16.7 million in the following two seasons.

Marshall, 28, is a 6'6" (1.98m) and 100kg (50kg) small forward who entered the NBA as an undrafted free agent in December 2020. He spent his first four years in the league with the New Orleans Pelicans and their G League affiliate, playing a total of 230 regular season games, averaging 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 19.5 minutes per game.

In July 2024, Marshall signed a three-year, $27 million contract with the Mavericks. To date, he has played 143 regular season games for the Mavericks, averaging 14.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.1 steals in 28.7 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 47.1% and a three-point percentage of 30.0%.

Following the contract extension, Mavericks president Masai Ujiri stated in a press release: "Naji has earned this opportunity through his consistent professionalism. He is a highly competitive player who can influence the team's performance in many ways. His versatility, tenacity, and willingness to take on challenges make him an integral part of our team-building plans."

The official announcement also confirmed that Marshall's jersey number will change from 13 to 3 next season.
