Club Brugge midfielder Onedica has officially joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a five-year contract.

Eintracht Frankfurt announced on Sunday that they have officially signed 25-year-old Club Brugge midfielder Rafael Onedica. The two sides signed a five-year contract, valid until June 30, 2031.

The official announcement also confirmed that Onedica will wear the number 25 jersey for Eintracht Frankfurt. Given that the player's contract with Club Brugge was originally set to expire next summer, the transfer was ultimately completed for €9 million plus €1 million in add-ons.

Following the signing, Eintracht Frankfurt's sporting director, Markus Klösche, stated: "Rafael Onedica is impressive not only for his outstanding physical attributes and tactical understanding of the game, but also for his consistent high-level performance over the long term. He has been a regular starter for Club Brugge in recent years and has won numerous trophies with the team in Belgium. He also possesses valuable international experience. At 25 years old, he still has enormous potential and is an indispensable member of our squad."

Onedika developed through Midtjylland's youth academy and began his professional career on loan at Fredrikschia in the 2020/21 season. Since returning from his loan spell at Fredrikschia, he has made 57 appearances for Midtjylland and won a Danish Cup with the team.

In August 2022, Onedica transferred to Club Brugge for €9.5 million. To date, he has made 183 appearances for Club Brugge, scoring 9 goals and providing 6 assists, winning two Belgian First Division titles, one Belgian Cup, and one Belgian Super Cup with the team.

Thanks to his solid performances at the club level, Onedika has been repeatedly called up to the Nigerian national team since September 2022. He has made 26 appearances for the team so far, contributing 3 goals and 1 assist.
