American reporter: The Kings are interested in bringing Westbrook back, and Oladipo is also under consideration.

According to a joint report by NBA insiders Jack Fisher and Marc Stein, the Sacramento Kings are considering reuniting with nine-time All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook. They hope Westbrook can serve as a mentor, guiding the development of Darius Akaff, the 7th overall pick in the 2026 draft.

As the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft, Russell Westbrook previously played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Denver Nuggets. Before joining the Sacramento Kings, he played a total of 1,237 regular season games, averaging 21.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists, and 1.6 steals in 33.3 minutes per game, and won numerous individual accolades, including one regular season MVP award, two All-NBA First Team selections, two scoring titles, and two assist titles.

Westbrook also played 135 playoff games, averaging 22.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 1.7 steals in 35.5 minutes per game. His most representative playoff achievement was undoubtedly leading the Thunder to the NBA Finals in the 2011/12 season.

In October 2025, Westbrook signed a one-year, $3.6 million veteran minimum contract with the Kings. He then played 64 regular season games for the Kings, averaging 15.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 1.3 steals in 29.0 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 42.7% and a three-point percentage of 33.8%.

Fisher and Stein further revealed that two-time NBA All-Star guard Victor Oladipo is also one of the targets the Kings are evaluating. As early as last month, the Kings sent representatives to observe Oladipo's open workout in Las Vegas.

The 34-year-old Oladipo was the second overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft. During his career, he played for the Orlando Magic, Oklahoma City Thunder, Indiana Pacers, Houston Rockets, and Miami Heat. He has not played in the NBA since suffering a torn patellar tendon in his left knee in 2023.
