Renard returns to coach Ivory Coast after 11 years, having previously led the team to victory in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) announced on Tuesday the official appointment of 57-year-old French football legend Hervé Renard as the national team coach. He will take over from Emsey Faé, and his specific term of office is yet to be determined.

This appointment also marks Renard's return to the Ivory Coast coaching position after 11 years. He briefly coached the Ivory Coast from 2014 to 2015, leading the team to victory in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Besides Ivory Coast, Renard has also coached several national teams, including Zambia, Angola, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Tunisia. His achievements at the national team level are remarkable: he led Zambia to victory in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, and also guided Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Tunisia in the last three World Cups.

For Renard, his first priority upon taking office is to ensure Ivory Coast qualifies for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The tournament will be co-hosted by Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya, with Ivory Coast drawn into Group G along with Ghana, Gambia, and Somalia.
