Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, reported on Friday that Arsenal have reached an agreement with Club Brugge for the transfer of Greek international winger Christos Tzolis.
According to Romano, since deciding to sell Leandro Trossard, Arsenal immediately focused their transfer plans on Tzolis and quickly reached an agreement with the player on personal terms.
Several other major European clubs also expressed interest in signing Tzolis, but after learning of Arsenal's interest, the player immediately expressed his desire to join the reigning Premier League champions.
The Gunners will pay Club Brugge a transfer fee of €40 million to sign Tzolis, and the two sides are expected to sign on a long-term five-year deal which runs until the summer of 2031.
Meanwhile, Romano also stated that despite the impending signing of Tzolis, this does not mean that Arsenal will end their winger recruitment plans.
Arsenal still consider signing Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers one of their top targets this summer transfer window.
However, there is currently no indication that the Gunners are prepared to submit a £100 million bid for Aston Villa.
In addition, Arsenal are not ruling out joining the transfer race for France international Bradley Barcola.
However, the club still prioritizes signing Rogers over this player, who is also being pursued by Liverpool.
There is also no indication that Arsenal are inclined to submit their demanded €130 million bid to Paris Saint-Germain.
About Christos Tzolis
The 24-year-old Christos Tzolis was born on January 30, 2002, in Thessaloniki, Greece. He is 1.79 meters tall and primarily plays as a left winger, but can also play as a center forward or right winger. He holds dual Greek and Albanian citizenship.
Tzolis joined PAOK Thessaloniki's youth academy as a child and completed his PAOK Thessaloniki first-team debut the Greek Cup semi-final match against Olympiakos in June 2020.
During his time with PAOK, Tzolis won the Greek Cup.
The following August, Tzolis joined Norwich City for £8 million.
However, due to the overall poor quality and strength of the Canaries' team, Tzolis failed to showcase his abilities, and Norwich City were ultimately relegated.
In the summer of 2022, Tzolis was loaned-out to Twente. The following August, he was loaned-out again to Fortuna Düsseldorf.
In July 2024, Tzolis joined Club Brugge for €6 million.
During his two-year spell with Club Brugge, Tzolis made 108 appearances in all competitions, scoring 43 goals and providing 45 assists. He helped the team win one Jupiler Pro League title, one Belgian Cup, and one Belgian Super Cup.
