Napoli left-back Gutierrez has officially joined Bayer Leverkusen and will wear the number 3 jersey.

Bayer Leverkusen officially announced on Wednesday the signing of Spanish left-back Miguel Gutierrez from Napoli. The two sides reached a five-year contract, valid until June 30, 2031.

The official announcement also confirmed that Gutierrez will wear the number 3 jersey at Bayer Leverkusen. Leverkusen believes his arrival will effectively fill the void left by Alejandro Grimaldo's departure.

According to multiple media reports, Gutierrez's transfer fee is €26 million plus €4 million in add-ons. During his time at Bayer Leverkusen, his annual salary will jump from €2.8 million to €3.5 million.

The 25-year-old Gutierrez came through Real Madrid's youth academy and made his professional debut for the first team in La Liga on April 21, 2021. He then played for Girona for three seasons, making a total of 112 appearances, scoring 6 goals and providing 19 assists.

In August 2025, Gutierrez transferred to Napoli for €18 million. He played a key role in Napoli's runner-up finish in Serie A last season, contributing 1 goal and 1 assist in 36 appearances across all competitions.

Following the completion of the transfer, Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes stated: "Miguel Gutierrez is a technically skilled and attacking defender who is a perfect fit for our team. His arrival has injected new energy into the squad. Miguel is an outstanding player and the player we've been dreaming of for the left-back position."

Gutierrez added, "The club has impressed me greatly in recent years. Leverkusen enjoys a prestigious reputation in Italy and my home country of Spain."
