Villarreal officially announce the signing of RB Leipzig's legendary Hungary international goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi..

Villarreal announced on their official website on Wednesday that they have signed RB Leipzig's legendary Hungary international goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi.

According to Villarreal's official statement, Gulácsi has signed on a short-term two-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2028.

After completing his transfer procedures, Gulacsi, who was interviewed by the La Liga powerhouse's official website for the first time, said: "I've only been here one day, but I've already spoken a few words with the head coach and talked more with my former goalkeeping coaches at Liverpool (Xavi Valero and former teammate Pepe Reina)."

"I'm here to work, contribute my experience and skills, and accept any arrangements. After so many years at Leipzig, playing for such a big club in a completely new country is definitely a challenge for me. I'm here to increase the workload of the goalkeeping team, work together with everyone, and help the team reach a higher level."

"We all know Villarreal is a very successful club; they always qualify for the Europa League. They've won the league title and competed in the Champions League for two consecutive years. That's the kind of ambition I'm looking for."

About Péter Gulacsi

The 35-year-old Gulácsi was born on May 6, 1990, in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. He is 1.93 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper.

Gulácsi joined MTK Budapest's youth academy at a young age and in 2007 joined Liverpool's renowned Kirkby youth academy, before being promoted to Liverpool's first team the following summer.

From February 2009 to the first half of 2012, Gulacsi was loaned-out to Hereford United, Tranmere Rovers, and Hull City successively.

After leaving Liverpool when his contract expired in the summer of 2013, Gulácsi joined RB Salzburg on a free transfer.

During his two-year spell at Salzburg, Gulácsi won the Austrian Bundesliga and the Austrian Cup twice.

In July 2015, Gulácsi moved to Salzburg's sister club, RB Leipzig, for £3 million.

During he 11-year spell at Leipzig, Gulácsi has made 362 appearances for the Bundesliga powerhouse in all competitions, conceding 440 goals and keeping 118 clean sheets, winning the DFB-Pokal twice.
