Premier League giants Manchester United have officially announced that 28-year-old Turkish international goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has joined La Liga side Celta Vigo on loan.
Baindil's loan runs until the 2026-27 season and includes a permanent buy-out clause of approximately £3.5 million and a substantial percentage of any subsequent transfer fee. He joined Manchester United from Fenerbahce in 2023 for €5 million.
During his three seasons with Manchester United, Baindier primarily served as a backup goalkeeper, making a total of 17 appearances for the team. He made his Manchester United debut in the 2024 FA Cup victory against Newport County (4-2), and last season he played 6 games for the Red Devils.
Celta Vigo performed well in La Liga last season, finishing sixth and securing a place in this season's UEFA Europa League.
In order to cope with the needs of competing on multiple fronts and to improve the goalkeeper position, Celta Vigo has chosen to bring in this Turkish goalkeeper who is in his prime. Baindil is also expected to get more starting opportunities in La Liga.
Upon leaving the club, Baindir posted a message of thanks to Manchester United fans on social media: "Thank you for every cheer and support, it means a lot to me. I will miss Old Trafford, but this is not goodbye. I wish the club all the best for the new season, and my heart will always be with you all."
