Herro on joining the Bucks: I'm not concerned about the contract, I just want to win more games.
2026-08-09 17:01August 9th - According to the Associated Press, Tyler Herro hasn't given much thought to his contract since joining his hometown team, the Milwaukee Bucks . The 26- year-old guard is more interested in helping his team achieve more wins in the new season than his future destination .
This offseason, he joined the Bucks from the Miami Heat as part of the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade. Herro currently has one year remaining on his contract, and if he does not sign an extension, he will become a free agent after the 2026-27 season.
“ I’m really not worried about that right now, ” Herro said at his youth basketball camp. “ This is a new beginning for me, the coaching staff, and the whole team. I don’t think it should be a burden for anyone. ”
Herro previously played seven seasons with the Miami Heat. Last season, he only played 33 games due to injury, but he had averaged over 20 points per game for five consecutive seasons and was selected as an All-Star in 2025 .
Meanwhile, the Bucks, who acquired Herro, traded away Giannis Antetokounmpo , arguably the most influential player in franchise history, this summer . New head coach Tyler Jenkins took over a team with a significantly revamped roster. Last season, the Bucks finished with a 32-50 record, ending their nine-year playoff streak.
Herro remained firm in his stance: " Some people may think we won't win many games, but that's exactly the opposite of what we're thinking. We want to win as many games as possible and build team culture from day one."
