Center-back Mitch van der Fern has signed a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced that they have signed a new contract with Dutch centre-back Micky van de Ven.

As one of the best center-backs in Europe, Van der Fern has maintained an outstanding performance since joining Tottenham in August 2023, and now he has chosen to continue to lock his future with Tottenham.

Since joining the team, Van der Fern has demonstrated top-level athleticism and leadership qualities. He played a key role in the team's journey to win the 2025 Europa League title, including a spectacular bicycle kick clearance against Manchester United in the final, securing a 1-0 victory and becoming a classic moment in the club's history.

Last season, under manager Roberto De Zerbi, Van der Fern also captained the team in the final six crucial matches. To date, Van der Fern has made 96 appearances for Tottenham and scored 10 goals, including a spectacular long-range run and goal against Copenhagen in the Champions League last November.

After completing the contract renewal, Van der Fein expressed his excitement: "Signing the new contract is a special and proud moment for me and my family."

“I have loved Tottenham and its fans since the first day I arrived here, and I have grown a lot here. The club’s future direction is very clear, and I want to be a part of it. I am full of expectations for the future.”

De Zerbi also highly praised Van der Fern's contract extension, commending him for possessing the mentality and ambition the team needs and being a core member of the team's future development. With the contract extension finalized, Van der Fern, who will soon reach his 100th appearance for Tottenham, will continue to serve as the defensive linchpin, helping the team strive for more honors.
