The Minnesota Timberwolves have officially announced that they will retire Kevin Garnett's No. 21 jersey in 2027.

The Minnesota Timberwolves officially announced today that the iconic No. 21 jersey of Kevin Garnett, the team's greatest legend and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer, will be officially retired on February 28, 2027.

The retirement ceremony will be held at Target Center, immediately following the Timberwolves' home game against the Boston Celtics. This historic moment makes Garnett the second player in franchise history to receive this honor, joining his late former teammate Malik Healy (#2) in being displayed in the rafters.

Since Garnett was invited to return to the team as an ambassador in December 2025, retiring his number 21 jersey has become the highest honor to pay tribute to his legendary career.

Garnett emotionally stated, "Minnesota will always be my home, the place where my basketball dream began. Seeing the number 21 jersey rise into the sky and sharing this moment with everyone is incredibly meaningful. But this is not the end, but the beginning of a brand new chapter."

Team co-chairmen Mark Lohr and Alex Rodriguez also paid tribute, saying that Garnett was the best embodiment of the Minnesota spirit and leadership, and retiring his jersey was the ultimate recognition of his historical contributions.

It is reported that the Timberwolves will launch a "KG-themed Night" throughout the 2026-27 season, giving away commemorative figurines at each game; and on the night of his retirement, exclusive commemorative T-shirts and limited-edition merchandise will be distributed on-site, allowing fans around the world to witness the eternal glory of Garnett's jersey.
