Official: Messi has officially completed the acquisition of Edens.

On October 1st local time, Argentine football legend Lionel Messi officially completed the full acquisition of Edens FC. He will become the sole controlling shareholder of Edens, although the deal is still pending approval from the Spanish Supreme Sports Council (CSD).

Edens is located in Elda, Alicante province, Valencia, Spain, geographically adjacent to Catalonia. The club was founded on September 17, 1921, by a group of passionate Barcelona fans.

Before Messi's takeover, Edens was owned by the Colombian investment group TH. They currently sit 19th in the Segunda División with a record of 1 win, 2 draws, and 4 losses, accumulating 5 points, and their relegation situation is extremely dire.

Regarding Messi's arrival, Edens stated in an official announcement: "This change of ownership will open an exciting new chapter in the club's more than 100-year history."

"As one of the most influential figures in sports history, Messi's arrival marks the official launch of a project with a long-term vision, aimed at promoting the comprehensive development of Edens FC at the competitive, institutional and social levels."

"Founded in 1921, Edens Football Club will embark on a new chapter with the ambition to establish itself and continue to develop in professional football, while further promoting its roots, history and blue-red spirit."

With the acquisition officially completed, Messi will own four football clubs. Besides Edens, his other three clubs are LSM Sporting in Uruguay, Rosario Lions in Argentina, and Cornellà in La Liga.

All indications suggest that this acquisition is a strategic move by Messi to prepare for his post-retirement life. His current contract with Inter Miami expires in December 2028, at which point the possibility of him retiring cannot be ruled out.
