Real Madrid suffered a setback at the start of the season, with Cucurella strongly supporting Mourinho.

After the first seven rounds of the new La Liga season, Real Madrid has already lost two games and is six points behind league leaders Barcelona.

Facing criticism of new manager José Mourinho's performance, Spanish defender Marc Cucurella, who joined Real Madrid this summer, spoke out publicly during the national team training camp, urging the public to give the new coaching staff more patience.

Cucurella stated that the team's tactical and technical development takes time: "It all takes time. In the national team, many systems and frameworks have been refined over many years, and the head coach has remained unchanged; but at Real Madrid, we have only just begun under the leadership of the new head coach, and it is too early to draw conclusions."

"Some players only participated in one week of preseason training before the official start of the season. Their performance at the beginning of the season did not meet everyone's expectations, but the evaluation should be left until the end of the season."

In response to outside discussions about his "performance for the national team being better than for his club," Cucurella said in an interview: "I haven't even played a full 10 games yet."

“This is a completely new club for me, and we basically didn’t have a full preseason. I have to adapt to my new teammates as quickly as possible and give it my all so that everyone can see me at Real Madrid as well as I do at the national team.”

As one of the 30 nominees for this year's Ballon d'Or, Cucurella is currently with the Spanish national team preparing for their UEFA Nations League matches against the Czech Republic and Croatia. When asked about the Ballon d'Or selection, he humorously remarked, "If I had to vote, I'd vote for myself."

"However, the two Ballon d'Or favorites, Mbappe and Yamar, are both my teammates. Whoever wins the trophy in the end, I will be happy for them."
