The Milwaukee Bucks announced on Tuesday that they have officially signed Johnny Bloom, who was recently waived. Multiple sources speculate that the two sides have reached a one-year Exhibit 10 contract.
Bloom was traded from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Los Angeles Clippers in July, but the Clippers ultimately chose to waive him. This move to the Bucks means that Bloom found a new team in just one week.
Other reports indicate that the Clippers will cover Bloom's $2.15 million salary for the 2026/27 season.
Bloom, 24, is a 2.06-meter tall, 111-kilogram forward who will enter the NBA in 2025 as the 35th overall pick in the second round. To date, he has played 11 regular season games for the 76ers, averaging 0.9 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 0.4 assists in 5.0 minutes per game, shooting 4-for-24 from the field.
However, Bloom spent most of his rookie season with the 76ers' G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Jackets. Due to a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee, he only played 26 games for the Delaware Blue Jackets, averaging 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.1 steals in 32.8 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 46.4%.
To make room for Bloomberg, the Bucks also confirmed the waiver of 23-year-old John Butler. A 6'3" (2.13m) and 100kg (50kg) power forward, Butler played 49 games last season for the Bucks' G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Bucks, averaging 9.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 1.1 steals in 28.6 minutes per game. He also participated in this year's NBA Summer League in Las Vegas with the Bucks, averaging 3.2 points in 4.6 minutes per game.
