The Los Angeles Clippers announced Tuesday that they have officially waived 25-year-old Japanese guard Yuki Kawamura. All indications suggest this move is aimed at making room for the addition of Fletcher Raul.
As an undrafted free agent in 2023, Yuki Kawamura previously played for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Chicago Bulls. To date, he has appeared in 40 regular season games, averaging 2.5 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 7.6 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 34.1% and a three-point percentage of 30.0%.
Compared to his NBA career, Yuki Kawamura has performed better in the G League. To date, he has played 35 G League games with the Memphis Spurs and the Chicago Bulls, averaging 14.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 1.0 steals in 31.8 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 38.3% and a three-point percentage of 39.3%.
In August of this year, Yuki Kawamura signed a one-year Exhibit 10 contract with the Clippers. He also came off the bench in yesterday's NBA preseason game against the Toronto Raptors, scoring 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting in 14 minutes, along with 4 assists and 2 steals.
According to multiple sources, Yuki Kawamura is expected to join the San Diego Clippers, the Clippers' G League affiliate, after clearing waivers. If he joins the San Diego Clippers and stays for 60 days, he will be eligible for a bonus of up to $91,000.
