Miami buyers acquired Jordan's 1998 NBA Finals jersey for $14 million.

A red away jersey autographed and worn by Michael Jordan during Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals has recently been sold privately for $14 million.

Hunt Auctions, the auction house that facilitated the deal, confirmed that this figure breaks the all-time record for the highest price ever paid for basketball memorabilia.

The buyer has been identified as Miami real estate investor Ron Firman. This jersey bears witness to the pivotal game on June 5, 1998, when the Chicago Bulls defeated the Utah Jazz on the road, tying the series.

The Bulls ultimately won the championship 4-2, marking the end of Jordan's legendary Bulls career with his sixth title, a "last dance." Buyer Philman stated that Jordan is a globally renowned legendary player, and acquiring this collectible was extremely exciting.

The auction house revealed that the jersey was purchased directly from the Chicago Bulls by a private collector in 2003 and had only changed hands once before, making its provenance extremely clear. This price ranks second in history among all sportswear items, second only to the jersey worn by baseball legend Babe Ruth in the 1932 World Series (which sold for $24.12 million in 2024).

This also marks the third time a Jordan jersey from the 1998 NBA Finals has surpassed the $10 million mark. Previously, the Game 1 jersey from that series sold for approximately $10.1 million in 2022, and the Game 3 jersey changed hands last month for approximately $12.3 million.

Industry insiders point out that Jordan's top-tier collectibles have now entered the asset level of heirloom artworks and continue to attract high attention from high-net-worth collectors worldwide.
