According to a joint report by NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jack Fisher on Monday, Brandon Miller is set to reach an early contract extension agreement with the Charlotte Hornets. If the signing goes smoothly, the total value of the contract is expected to exceed $200 million over five years.
Miller, 23, is a 2.01-meter tall, 91-kilogram forward who was selected second overall by the Charlotte Hornets in 2023. To date, he has played 166 regular season games for the Hornets, averaging 19.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.0 steals in 31.8 minutes per game, with a 43.1% field goal percentage and a 37.3% three-point percentage.
Industry insiders generally believe that Miller is likely to receive a more lucrative contract extension than Armin Thompson. Their high regard for Miller stems primarily from the player's higher offensive ceiling.
With LaMelo Ball's move to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miller's tactical role in the Hornets has been further elevated. All indications suggest he will be established alongside Conor Knippert as a cornerstone of the Hornets' future.
