Lens FC has officially announced that elite youth team striker Samuel Dier has signed his first professional contract. His outstanding performances in 35 appearances this season have earned the center-forward, who has been with the club's youth academy since 2023, recognition, and the two sides have signed a contract until 2029.
Samuel Dier's football development began in the Loire Valley, where he was nurtured by several clubs before joining the Le Mans youth academy in 2020. In 2023, the young striker joined Lens, and although the club crest on his chest has changed, he continues to wear the jersey representing the spirit of the Red and Yellow Army.
As a modern center forward with excellent physical attributes, Samuel Dier not only possesses outstanding finishing ability in front of goal but can also act as a target man in the attacking third. After joining Lens, he played for the U19 team and quickly demonstrated his talent and ability. In his first season, he contributed 7 goals and 2 assists, helping the team to a fourth-place finish in the national U19 league.
The 2023/24 season was a pivotal year for Samuel Dier's development. As a member of Lens' youth team, he earned the opportunity to play in the UEFA Youth League and made his European debut as a substitute in a 1-0 away win against Sevilla.
For Samuel Dier, the 2024/25 season was a pivotal year for personal growth and breakthroughs. As a young striker of just 18 years old, he firmly established himself as a key player in the U19 team, scoring 15 goals in 25 matches and frequently wearing the captain's armband. His consistent and efficient performance placed him among the top three scorers in his group, earning him a call-up to the reserve team and 11 appearances in the French National 3.
In the 2025/26 season, Samuel Dier further solidified his core position in Lens' elite youth team. As a center forward, he continuously refined his technical skills and consistently contributed to the team with his excellent finishing ability. He scored twice, once against Caen and once against Paris 13. By the end of the season, he had become a key pillar of the team's attack with 15 goals and 5 assists in 35 appearances. Based on his consistent and efficient performance, the club decided to offer him a professional contract, and the two sides officially signed him until 2029.
