Juan Iglesia admitted that he was very happy to join Sevilla and was eager to start training as soon as possible.

Although he will not officially join Sevilla until June 30, Juan Iglesias, the team's second new signing for the 2026/27 season, has already arrived in the new environment and given his first interview to the club's official media, talking about his expectations for the new season.  

Juan Iglesias said: "I am very excited to be here. I have been moving my luggage and organizing my belongings for the past few days, hoping to settle in as soon as possible and really start living here. 'Excitement' is the word that best describes my current state. I can't wait to start training, playing, wearing this jersey, and having a hopeful season."  

“Compared to before, I am now a more mature player. After several years of hard work and growth in La Liga, I feel that these experiences have paid off. Now that I've joined a higher-level club like Sevilla, I'm very much looking forward to getting started as soon as possible.”  

When discussing his reasons for joining the club, he specifically mentioned his former teammate David Soria. He said, "I'm very fortunate to have a friend and former teammate like David Soria. No one is better suited to introduce me to everything about Seville, the city, and the club than him."  

“I have thanked him many times for his help in helping me adapt, and he also told me that I could contact him anytime if I had any questions. He advised me to stay humble and not to change myself from my time at Getafe, and he was also very happy for me to join us here.”  

“I spent 11 years in Valladolid’s youth academy, and at that time I thought I was close to becoming a professional footballer, but then I went through a tough period. Football is like a roller coaster; just when you think you’re going up, you might go down the next moment. But that’s why the sense of accomplishment after going through these things is even stronger. I’m in the best stage of my career now, but I believe I haven’t reached my peak yet and there’s still a lot of room for improvement.”  

“Sevilla is a club with a glorious history, and it has always been my first choice when they contacted me. Now I can finally say that I am here. It is a city and a club full of passion. What I hope to bring is energy, to pass on to the dressing room, the fans, and my experience.”  

Speaking about head coach Luis Garcia, he said, "Although we haven't worked together before, we've communicated. I've also played against him as an opponent and understand his coaching requirements, and he knows I can meet those requirements. Once the preseason starts, we'll discuss further the positions he wants me to play. I've already told him that I'm ready to play any position he needs."  

“I always tell the young players that being able to play multiple positions is an advantage. My main position is right-back, but this season I have played in several positions in the defense and even as a winger. The most important thing is to adapt to the coach’s requirements and perform at your best in every position.”  

"Whether it's individual or team goals, they should be filled with anticipation and joy. We need to play every game with energy and never be satisfied with just winning, because competition is key. When the locker room has a unified mindset, you'll approach the game in a completely different way. We must build strong team cohesion, just like I saw in the last few games here, with the whole team united and giving their all for the fans. We will give it our all, and this will be a season to look forward to."
