Red Bull Salzburg has confirmed the signing of Dominique Schmidt, with the two sides agreeing to a contract until June 2030.

Red Bull Salzburg has made a significant signing from the Swiss league, with 28-year-old left-back Dominique Schmidt joining the team from FC Basel on a contract until June 30, 2030.

Dominique Schmidt has accumulated a wealth of professional experience in Swiss football. He made 134 appearances for Basel, winning two league titles and one cup, and also served as the team's vice-captain. He also made 107 appearances for Grasshopper, 40 for Will FC, and 24 for Lausanne-Sport, demonstrating exceptional consistency and experience. He will wear the number 31 jersey in the new season, known for his aggressive attacking style and professional attitude.

Salzburg's sporting director, Markus Mann, said: "Dominique Schmidt is an experienced and highly capable player. We were initially impressed by him in the Europa League match against Basel last January; his attacking style was impressive, and he was also very solid defensively. We have brought in a player with leadership potential, which will have a positive impact on many of the team's young players."

Dominique Schmidt said: "This is my first time playing abroad, and it's a significant step in my career. I'm really looking forward to it. The past few days have been very busy, and everything has happened very quickly. The communication with Marcus Mann was very important; he clearly explained Red Bull Salzburg's goals to me."

“I know I’m going to join a very young team, and my experience, both on and off the field, could be useful, which makes me think it’s a very attractive challenge.”
