Germany came from behind to defeat Côte d'Ivoire with a late 2-1 win in their second FIFA World Cup in United States, Canada and Mexico Group E match at the Toronto Stadium on Saturday, securing their place in the Round of 32s.

In the first half, Pavlović scored by forcing an own goal, but it was disallowed. Kessié then scored with a close-range follow-up shot. In the second half, Havertz's close-range header somehow went just slightly wide of the post. Later, super-sub Undav volleyed home from close range. Before the final whistle, Undav scored again. Germany ultimately prevailed with a late 2-1 comeback win. After this round of matches, Die Mannschaft continues to lead the group with 6 points; Les Éléphants are currently second in the group with 3 points.

First Half

In the 10th minute, Joshua Kimmich crossed into the box from the right wing, where Kai Havertz rose high and attempted with a header in the box, however his effort was saved by Yahia Fofana.

2 minutes later, Ghislan Konan crossed into the box from the byline at the left wing. Wilfried Singo quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, half-volleyed with his left foot from the right side of the box, but his shot was blocked by Nathaniel Brown.

In the 18th minute, Aleksandar Pavlović made a straight pass from the left wing. Jamal Musiala got the ball, cuts inside and took a few steps before taking a right-footed long shot from just outside of the penalty area, but his shot went just slightly wide of the bottom right corner of the post.

3 minutes later, Germany launched a quick counter-attack. Nadiem Amiri intercepted the ball and passes horizontally from the left wing. Felix Nmecha stopped the ball and adjusted his angle before taking a fired a right-footed long shot from just outside of the penalty area, his shot was deflected by Ibrahim Sangaré and went just slightly over the crossbar.

In the 22nd minute, Germany earned a corner kick opportunity. Brown took the corner by taking a tactical corner. After Kimmich took over, he crossed into the box from the right wing, where Aleksandar Pavlović rose high in the box, collided with Fofana and resulting in an own goal. However, the referee immediately blew his whistle, indicating that Pavlović had committed a foul, hence the goal was disallowed.

8 minutes later, Yan Diomande crossed into the box from the byline at the left wing. His pass was initially blocked and cleared off not far away by Brown. Upon picking up the loose ball, Amad Diallo toox a right-footed follow-up shot from a very close distance in the box. His shot was also blocked and cleared off not far away by Brown. Upon picking up the ball, Franck Kessié slotted it into the bottom left corner of the net with his right foot from a very close distance in the box. Côte d'Ivoire shockingly broke the deadlock first to take a 0-1 lead!

In the 41st minute, Musiala passes horizontally from the left side of the box. Upon receiving the pass, Florian Wirtz volleyed with his right foot from the center of the box, but his shot went wide of the left side of the post. 

In the 6th minute of first-half stoppage time, Nmecha made a backheel pass from the attacking third, Wirtz got the ball, cuts inside and took a few steps before striking the ball with his right foot from the center of the box, but his shot was saved by Fofana.

At halftime, Germany temporarily enter the break trailing Côte d'Ivoire by 0-1.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued, in the 51st minute, Amad passes horizontally from the right side of the box. Upon receiving the pass, Christ Inao Oulaï volleyed with his right foot from the center of the box, but his shot flew high and went out of the pitch.

12 minutes later, Germany won a corner opportunity. Kimmich took the corner by crossing it into the box. Fofana misjudged the situation and failed to make a save, allowing Havertz to rose high and attempt with a header from a very close distance in the box, however his effort somehow went slightly just wide of the bottom right corner of the post! Die Mannschaft missed a golden opportunity to equalize against Les Éléphants!

In the 68th minute, Amiri crossed into the box from the right wing. Deniz Undav quickly followed up and upon receving the pass,half-volleyed the ball into the high center of the net from a very close distance in the box with his left foot, Germany equallized the score at 1-1 against Côte d'Ivoire!

In the 89th minute, Wirtz cuts the ball back from the left side of the box. Nathaniel Brown quickly followed-up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed with his left foot from the left side of the box, but his shot was saved by Fofana.

In the first minute of stoppage time, Undav passes horizontally from the attacking third. Nadiem Amiri quickly followed-up, got the ball and took a few steps before volleying with his right foot from the center of the box, but his shot was saved by Fofana.

3 minutes later, Nmecha played precise through ball from the attacking third. After beating the offside trap, Undav stopped the ball in the center of the box, turned around before volleying the ball into the bottom left corner of the net with his left foot, scoring his second goal of the match and sealing a 2-1 victory for Germany! This was the Stuttgart striker's third goal in this World Cup! 

When the final whistle is bIown, Germany defeated Côte d'Ivoire 2-1 in a dramatic late comeback win.
