Barcelona captain Ronald Araújo officially joins Liverpool on-loan..


Liverpool announced on their official website on Monday that Barcelona captain, Uruguay international defender Ronald Araújo has joined the club on-loan.


According to Liverpool's official statement, Araújo will play for the club on loan until the end of the new season. The loan agreement includes a non-mandatory buy-out clause, and he will wear the number 33 shirt.


Furthermore, according to Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the buy-out clause for Araújo is set at €55 million.


After completing his transfer procedures, Araújo, who was interviewed by the Premier League giants' official website for the first time, said: "I can't wait to get started. I'm really, really happy. About Ronald Araújo


Araújo, 27, was born on March 7, 1999 in Rivera, Uruguay. He is 1.90 meters tall and primarily plays as a center back, but can also play as a right back. He has the nationalities of Uruguay, Brazil and Spain.


Araújo joined the youth academy his hometown club Huracán de Rivera since he was a child. In 2015, he joined the Rentistas youth academy and completed his Huracán de Rivera first-team by coming on as a substitute in September of the following year.


In July 2017, Araújo moved to Boston River for €250,000, and attracted the attention of many major European clubs with his outstanding performances.


In August of the following year, Araújo joined Barcelona for €5.2 million.


He was first arranged to play for the Barça B team, before completing his Barcelona first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in October 2019.


Since becoming a member of the Blaugrana, Araújo has played 155 times for Barcelona in all competitions so far, scoring 8 goals and assiting 6 times. During which he has won the La Liga thrice, the Supercopa de España thrice and the Copa Del Rey twice with the club.
