Fiorentina have extended Luca Ranieri's contract until 2029, with an option to extend for another year.

Fiorentina announced on Thursday that they have extended the contract of 24-year-old Italian center-back Luca Ranieri. The new contract will run from 2028 to June 30, 2029, with an option to extend for another year.

Ranieri was born in La Spezia in 1999 and officially joined Fiorentina's youth academy at the age of 13. Early in his career, he was loaned out to clubs such as Foggia, Ascoli, SPAL, and Salernitana before finally establishing himself at Fiorentina in the 2023/24 season.

To date, Ranieri has made 164 appearances for Fiorentina, scoring 12 goals and providing 6 assists.

After completing the contract extension, Ranieri could not hide his joy and excitement. He stated through official channels: "I am very happy and honored to continue to stay with such an excellent team. To me, this team is like a big family. I have been playing for Fiorentina since I was 13 years old, and now I am entering my fifth year with the team. I am deeply honored by this. I will give my all every day, demonstrating my value and repaying the club's trust in me."

"It is of great significance to me to renew my contract during the centenary season of Florence. I am well aware of the importance of this season and am honored to have the trust of the head coach, sporting director and president. I will do my best to repay them."

Fiorentina have had a poor start to the season, currently sitting in 17th place in Serie A with 4 points from 1 win, 1 draw, and 3 losses. Despite this, Ranieri remains confident the team can achieve great things under Paolo Vanoli's leadership: "The coach returned full of energy, and I have no doubt about that. We are happy to work with him and are confident that we can achieve great things together in the future. This off-season has been exceptionally long, but we are fully prepared both physically and mentally."
