In the second round of Group I of the 2026 World Cup, Norway defeated Senegal 3-2 at the Metropolitan Life Stadium in New Jersey, USA. They currently sit second in the group with a record of 2 wins and 6 points, securing their place in the Round of 32.

After the start of the first half, Norway quickly took the initiative. In the 2nd minute, Julian Ryerson's corner kick from the left was headed by Christopher Ayer, but Eduard Mendy made a save. In the 13th minute, Marcus Pedersen cut back from the right wing, and Martin Ødegaard's shot inside the box went wide. In the 36th minute, Erling Haaland delivered a pass from the edge of the box, and the unmarked Ødegaard's shot was brilliantly saved by Mendy.

In the 42nd minute, Norway finally broke the deadlock: Ødegaard's diagonal pass from the right wing caused Kalidou Koulibaly to make a clearance error, and Marcus Petersen took advantage of the opportunity to rush into the penalty area and fire a powerful shot into the net to take the lead.
