Norway's tactical change resulted in a crushing defeat, while the French coach insists that recharging and preparing for the next round is the key.

In Friday's final group stage match of the World Cup, Norway repeatedly conceded possession in midfield due to errors, allowing the fast-paced French team to capitalize. Ultimately, Norway lost 1-4.

With the upcoming Round of 32 match against Ivory Coast next week, Norwegian coach Stahl Solbakken has overhauled his starting lineup, benching all 10 regular starters, including top striker Erling Haaland and captain Martin Ødegaard.

Despite the loss, Solbakken still praised the fighting spirit of his fringe players after the match. Solbakken stated, "The situation changed very quickly when we conceded several goals."

"On the offensive end, we created chances throughout the game, so the lads deserve praise for that. We had four excellent chances in the first half, but you absolutely cannot lose possession in certain areas because the opponent's counter-attacks are just too fast."

When asked about the disappointment of not seeing key players on the field, Solbakken explained that several players suffered severe cramps due to the high humidity in the stadium during the previous match against Senegal, and rotation was necessary for the upcoming knockout stages.

Solbakken emphasized: "From my personal perspective, the physiotherapist's perspective, and the perspective of some of the players themselves, this is an obvious decision."

"If we don't rotate 10 players just so that the fans can see Erling and Martin, our World Cup journey won't last long, and that's exactly why we're here—to go as far as possible."

Norway finished second in their group and will face Ivory Coast in a crucial match on June 30 in Dallas.
