Newcastle United officially announce the signing of Sporting Clube de Braga's Czech international goalkeeper Lukáš Horníček..

Newcastle United announced on their official website on Thursday that they have signed Czech international goalkeeper Lukáš Horníček from Sporting Clube de Braga.

According to Newcastle's official statement, Horníček has signed on a long-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2031.

After completing his transfer procedures, Horníček, who was interviewed by the Premier League club's official website for the first time, said: "My emotions have been like a rollercoaster these past few days since I heard the news of the transfer. I'm incredibly excited to be here. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a name for myself in the new league, and I'm very much looking forward to it."

"From the moment I arrived, I felt the warm welcome from the club, and I truly felt the warmth of the club. Everyone has been very helpful in helping me settle into the new environment."

About Lukáš Horníček

The 24-year-old Lukáš Horníček was born on July 13, 2002, in Vysoké Myto, Czech Republic. He is 1.92 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper.

Horníček joined Pradubice's youth academy at the age of 7, and in 2019 joined Braga's youth academy. He began playing for Braga's B team in 2021 and completed his Sporting Clube de Braga first-team debut in a Taça de Portugal match in May 2022.

During his four-year spell at Braga, Horníček made 88 appearances for the Portuguese Primeira Liga powerhouse in all competitions, conceding 85 goals and keeping 34 clean sheets, where he won the Taça de Portugal once and the Taça da Liga once with the team.
