The core reason for this move is economic considerations. This 2.08-meter-tall forward's $14.5 million salary was originally scheduled to become a fixed-term contract on June 28.

According to league salary experts, Orlando's management successfully reduced their financial burden by waiving him early, amounting to $6.5 million. Although the Magic still have to pay the remaining $8 million, they did not opt for the seven-year grace period.

This means that if Isaac doesn't find a new team in the subsequent free agency market, he still has the opportunity to rejoin his former team. As the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft, he spent nine years in Orlando.

However, frequent injuries completely ruined Isaac's career. During this long period, he only made more than 70 appearances in two seasons, and during that time, a serious rupture of the ligaments in his left knee caused him to miss two consecutive full seasons.

In the recently concluded competition cycle, Isaac's performance declined sharply, averaging a dismal 2.6 points and 2.5 rebounds in 52 appearances.

Due to a recurrence of a knee sprain late in the regular season, Isaac not only missed the final 22 regular season games but also failed to step up and help the team in the first round of the playoffs against the Detroit Pistons. The Magic ultimately fell short in the first round, which spurred this roster overhaul.
