Newcastle United have officially announced the passing of their legendary player and manager, Kevin Keegan.

As a player, Keegan enhanced Newcastle United's strength and influence with his superb skills and belief; as a manager, he led the team to play highly passionate and entertaining football, giving local fans hope and pride, and building a close bond with the city and fans around the world.

In response to this tragic news, Newcastle United Chief Executive David Hopkinson, on behalf of the club, extended his deepest condolences to Jean Keegan's wife and her family.

Hopkinson stated that Keegan was not only a legendary footballer but also the core and soul of Newcastle United, and his spirit will continue to influence future generations.

In remembrance of Keegan, Newcastle United has announced the following memorial measures:

The flag at St. James' Park will be flown at half-staff in mourning.

Each team in the club will hold a minute's silence before their first training session.

The club has set up a special area in the southwest corner of St. James' Park for fans to lay flowers and gather to mourn.

Newcastle United have stated that they will seriously consider establishing a lasting memorial to commemorate Kevin Keegan's extraordinary life at an appropriate time in the future.
