In an interview, Juventus captain Locatelli stated that the team must transform the setbacks and defeats of last season into the greatest motivation to move forward and strive for improvement.
Juventus, nicknamed "The Old Lady," will travel to Kai Tak Sports Park for their next preseason friendly against Premier League giants Chelsea, continuing their preparations for the new Serie A season.
Juventus defeated Ligue 1 side Nice 2-0 in their last friendly match, thanks to goals from Douglas Luiz and Oboavodouo.
As for Chelsea, Xabi Alonso's team lost 1-2 to Tottenham Hotspur in their last friendly match.
Juventus midfielder Locatelli said, "We feel good right now and are ready, and we know the next game will be a very tough test."
"The team is very united, and we are very happy with the new players who have joined us. They are all top players and have the ability to further improve the team's strength. Therefore, our overall fighting strength is always our biggest advantage."
Locatelli said, "Wearing the captain's armband for Juventus is a huge responsibility for me, but also an incredibly precious honor. I came to this club when I was very young, so I am very proud to be the captain."
In the 2025/26 Serie A season, Juventus finished 6th after overcoming various challenges, securing a Europa League spot.
Locatelli said, "At the end of last season, we all felt very bitter because we did not achieve the goals we set at the beginning of the season. We did not perform well enough, and we must always keep that in mind and implement it in every training session. We must turn this realization into the greatest motivation to inspire ourselves to work harder."
“We must look forward and continue to train hard. When we wear the Juventus jersey, every competition should be a goal we strive for. We will not hide our disappointment at missing out on the Champions League, but the Europa League is also a very important competition. We need to stay calm and focused, and fight for every game.”
