RB Leipzig announced on their official website on Wednesday that Sevilla's Norway international goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland has rejoined the club on a free transfer.
According to Leipzig's official statement, Nyland has signed on a short-term two-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2028. He will also wear the number 1 jersey previously worn by his former teammate Péter Gulácsi after the latter moved to Villarreal.
After completing his transfer procedures, Nyland, who was interviewed by the Leipzig official website again, said: "When the opportunity to return to RB Leipzig arose, I made the decision almost without hesitation. I have many wonderful memories of the club and the staff here, and I'm really looking forward to seeing them again."
"Since leaving here, I've gained a lot of valuable experience in Spain. Representing Norway at the World Cup was a special highlight of my career, making me realize how much I enjoy major tournaments and competitive atmospheres. Now, I hope to bring that energy to Leipzig."

About Ørjan Nyland
The 35-year-old Nyland was born on September 10, 1990, in Volda, Norway. He is 1.92 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper.
Nyland played for the youth academy of non-league club Mork and his hometown club Volda during his childhood. He joined Hødd in 2007 and m completed his Hødd first-team debut in October 2008.
During his five-year spell at Hødd, Nyland impressed, earning an invitation to participate in a trial from Rosenborg and attracting the attention of Everton. He also won the Norwegian Cup once with the team.
In March 2013, Nyland joined Molde on a free transfer.
During his two-and-a-half-year spell at Molde, Nyland won the Norwegian Cup twice and the Norwegian Eliteserien once.
In July 2015, Nyland joined Ingolstadt for €1 million.
In August 2018, Nyland joined Aston Villa for £3 million.
During his two-year spell with Aston Villa, Nyland won the EFL Championship promotion play-offs title once and reached the Carabao Cup final once.
From February 2021 to the first half of the following year, Nyland played for Norwich City, Bournemouth, and Reading successively, but had limited playing time.
In October of the following year, Nyland joined RB Leipzig on a free transfer. During his time there, he won the DFB-Pokal.
In August 2023, Nyland joined Sevilla on a free transfer.
During his three-year spell with Los Nervionenses, Nyland made 66 appearances for the La Liga club in all competitions, conceding 85 goals and keeping 15 clean sheets, where he helped the team reach the Copa del Rey quarter-finals once.
