Everton's Senegal international defensive midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye officially joins newly promoted Saudi Pro League side Al Diriyah on a free transfer..

Al Diriyah announced on the club's official website on Monday that Everton's Senegal international defensive midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye has joined the club on a free transfer.

According to the newly promoted Saudi Pro League side's official statement, Gueye has signed on a short term one-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2027, with an option to extend for a further year.

About Idrissa Gana Gueye

The 36-year-old Idrissa Gana Gueye was born on September 26, 1989, in Dakar, Senegal. He is 1.74 meters tall and plays as a defensive midfielder.

Gueye joined the youth academy of Senegalese club Diambars at a young age. After graduating, he joined Lille, started playing for Lille's B team in 2008 before completing his Lille first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in a Coupe de France match in January 2010.

During his five-year spell at Lille, Gueye won one Ligue 1 title and one Coupe de France title with the team.

In July 2015, Gueye joined Aston Villa for £9 million.

The following August, Gueye moved to Everton for £7.1 million.

During his three-year spell at the Toffees, Gueye's outstanding performances attracted the attention of Paris Saint-Germain.

In July 2019, Gueye joined Paris Saint-Germain for £30 million.

During his three-year spell at Le Parisiens, Gueye won two Ligue 1 titles, two Coupe de France titles, one Coupe de la Ligue title, one Trophée des Champions title, and reached the UEFA Champions League final once.

On the 2022 winter transfer window deadline day, Gueye rejoined Everton for £2 million.

During his time at the Toffees, Gueye made 236 appearances for the Premier League club in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists.
