The Grizzlies' 3-year, $30 million pursuit of Poston leaves the Warriors facing a decision regarding his future.

July 7th - According to ESPN , restricted free agent Quentin Post will sign a three- year, $ 30 million offer to the Memphis Grizzlies. The Golden State Warriors have the matching right under league rules and must make a decision by 11:59 PM ET on Tuesday .

Post was selected by the Warriors with the 52nd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft . He entered the rotation midway through his rookie season and quickly established himself thanks to his excellent outside shooting ability. In the 2024-25 season, he made 73 three-pointers in 42 games , with a three-point shooting percentage of nearly 41% . Although his three-point shooting percentage dropped to 33.6% last season , he still averaged 4.1 three-point attempts per game.

The Warriors previously offered Post a qualifying offer of $ 2.6 million and have been keen to retain him. However, the team has already re-signed Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis this summer , making the competition for the center position more intense. They also want to preserve salary cap space to pursue LeBron James and plan to re-sign Draymond Green , making the decision to match the offer uncertain.

If the Warriors ultimately choose not to match the offer, Post will officially join the Grizzlies. This would be the first time since 2020 that an NBA team has lost a restricted free agent due to not matching the offer.
