Dunleavy Jr.: I'm convinced Curry will finish his career with the Warriors.

Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. reiterated on Tuesday that he believes Stephen Curry will spend his entire career in Golden State.

The 38-year-old Curry is about to enter his 18th NBA season and the final year of his current contract. He is eligible for an extension starting August 29, and could sign a maximum two-year, $136.7 million contract with the Warriors.

There's a general optimism surrounding Curry's contract extension prospects, and Mike Dunleavy shares this confidence. In an online interview Tuesday afternoon, he stated unequivocally, "Stephen has never mentioned any possibility of retiring outside the Warriors. His message has always been to stay with the Warriors, something he repeatedly emphasizes when discussing the future. I believe things are developing in perfect line with that."

Dunleavy Jr. added, "I'm pretty sure Steph will finish his career with the Warriors. Ultimately, it all depends on his decision. Even if he moves on after his contract expires, or even tells me he wants to be traded, I'll discuss it seriously with Joe Lacob. We certainly wouldn't be happy about that, but he's already earned the right to do what he wants. As for the possibility of joining another team, neither we nor he have ever considered it."

"Regarding Stephen, I'm very certain of two things: he's incredibly eager to win and wants to finish his career with the Warriors. I don't think that stance will change tomorrow, August 29th, the start of the season, the middle of the season, or the end of the season."

As the 7th overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft, Curry has played 1,069 regular season games for the Warriors, averaging 24.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.5 steals in 34.0 minutes per game. During this time, he has amassed numerous accolades, including two MVP awards, 12 All-Star selections, four All-NBA First Team selections, two NBA scoring titles, and one NBA steals title. He has also led the Warriors to four NBA championships (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022) and was unanimously voted the 2022 NBA Finals MVP with his dominant individual performance.

However, Curry only played 43 regular season games last season due to a right knee injury, averaging 26.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.1 steals in 30.9 minutes per game. He also played 8 playoff games, contributing 22.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.0 steals.
