Mike Dunleavy Jr. firmly believes the Golden State Warriors are on their way to the championship.

In a recent interview, Golden State Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. said he is optimistic about the team's prospects and believes the Warriors are on track to contend for the NBA championship.

In Game 2 of the 2025/26 NBA Western Conference Play-In Tournament, the Golden State Warriors, despite contributions from players like Bojemski, Stephen Curry, and De'Anthony Melton, ultimately lost to the Phoenix Suns 96-111, failing to advance to the playoffs.

When asked about the Golden State Warriors' potential to contend for the NBA championship next season, Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. said, "I see a path because we have Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr is a championship-winning coach. We have very good players, we just need to keep them healthy, then we'll evaluate them and see where the team is."

“If we need to get stronger, I know the team has the ability to do so. So, the path to the championship exists. It may not be clear to many people, but the path definitely exists.”

Mike Dunleavy Jr. continued, "That's what the team is trying to achieve. We need a bit of luck, and we need things to work in our favor. But I think we're definitely on that path right now. We're certainly not the top favorite to win the championship right now, but that's not what we want to do."

"We're not aiming to win the championship in August; our goal is to position ourselves to compete in the playoffs in March, April, May, and June."
