Doc Rivers officially inducted into the Hall of Fame: From NBA player to championship coach

According to an official NBA report, Doc Rivers has been officially inducted into the Hall of Fame. During his 30-year NBA career, Rivers transitioned from player to commentator, then coached five teams, leading the Boston Celtics to the NBA championship in 2008.

Rivers has coached five teams: the Magic, Celtics, Clippers, 76ers , and Bucks. His regular season record is 1194 wins and 866 losses, ranking sixth in NBA history in wins. He also has 114 playoff wins , ranking fourth all-time. He is one of only 11 head coaches in league history to have more than 1000 regular season wins .

Rivers began coaching the Orlando Magic in 1999, leading the team to a 41-41 record in his first season and being named Coach of the Year in 2000. After joining the Celtics in 2004, he brought in Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in 2007, forming the "Big Three" with Paul Pierce. In the 2007-08 season, the Celtics finished with a 66-16 record and ultimately defeated the Lakers to win the championship .

After that, Rivers led the Clippers to the playoffs for several consecutive years; after joining the 76ers, the team achieved a record of 154 wins and 82 losses in three seasons. In 2024, he took over the Milwaukee Bucks, but ultimately failed to lead the team to another championship .

Looking back on his career, Rivers said he never imagined becoming a coach, let alone being inducted into the Hall of Fame. He attributed this honor to the players, coaches, and staff he had worked with along the way, believing that "no one could have accomplished this alone . "
