Since its founding in 1968 , the Phoenix Suns have produced numerous outstanding point guards and playmakers. Below are the top five Suns players on the all-time assists list:
1. Steve Nash ( 6997 times)
Nash was named the regular season MVP in back-to-back in 2005 and 2006 , and won the league's assist title five times. He recorded 10,335 assists in his career, ranking sixth in NBA history.
2. Kevin Johnson ( 6518 times )
Johnson played 12 seasons with the Suns , averaging 9.5 assists per game, with an impressive 12.2 assists per game in the 1988-89 season . He achieved a single-season average of 20 points and 10 assists three times and holds the Suns' single-game record of 25 assists.
3. Alvan Adams ( 4012 times )
Adams played his entire 13- year career with the Suns, helping the team reach the NBA Finals for the first time in his rookie season. He averaged 4.1 assists per game throughout his career. In 1977 , he recorded a triple-double with 47 points, 18 rebounds, and 12 assists.
4. Devin Booker ( 3908 times )
Booker entered the NBA in 2015 as the 13th overall pick and has played for the Suns ever since. He is not only the team's all-time leading scorer but also an excellent playmaker, averaging 5.3 assists per game throughout his career. In the 2024-25 season, he averaged 7.1 assists per game and recorded 47 points and 10 assists in a playoff game against the Clippers in 2023 .
5. Walter Davis ( 3340 times )
Davis joined the Suns with the fifth overall pick in 1977 and was named Rookie of the Year. He played for Phoenix for 11 years, averaging 3.8 assists per game throughout his career , reaching 5.5 in the 1983-84 season . His excellent shooting and speed made him a legend in Suns history, and he was also the team's all-time leading scorer when he retired.
