In a high-profile UEFA Nations League Group A match on Monday, France staged a stunning comeback at the Stade de France, scoring four goals in the final 14 minutes to secure a resounding 4-1 victory over Belgium.
This not only gave head coach Zinedine Zidane his first home win since taking charge of the French national team, but also allowed France to maintain a 3-point lead in the group.
Belgium dominated the first half. In the 35th minute, Lavia's long pass broke through the defense, and Lukeborg chipped the ball over the goalkeeper to break the deadlock. Facing a deficit, Zidane made decisive substitutions in the second half, and the young substitutes completely revitalized the attack.
In the final 14 minutes of the second half, France secured the victory with two goals from Desiree Douai, Lajan Sergi, and later Michael Olisse.
In the post-match interview, Zidane praised the team's resilience: "That's football, that's why we love it. We did have some difficulties in the first half, but getting back on track after falling behind is the beauty of the game, and we played at a very high level in the second half."
When discussing the substitutions, Zidane emphasized: "We know that the high-level players on the bench have the ability to change the game, but this is more of a team victory. Everyone has given their all over the past two weeks, and that's what I'm most proud of."
In an interview, Olise, who scored two goals, said: "This was a team effort. The coach brought a new tactical approach, which we resolutely implemented. We have worked well together in the past four games, and we will continue to do so."
