Iraola expressed strong dissatisfaction with Hrafinberg's first yellow card after the match.

In Sunday's Premier League showdown, Liverpool suffered a 0-3 home defeat to Manchester City. The turning point of the match came when referee Chris Carvana showed Liverpool midfielder Ryan Hrafenbech a red card, prompting Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola to express strong dissatisfaction with the decision in a post-match interview.

The match was evenly matched for the first 62 minutes at Anfield. However, Hrafinberg, who had previously received a yellow card for a challenge, fouled Jeremy Doku and was sent off with a second yellow card. Just three minutes later, Manchester City broke the deadlock through Erling Haaland, and Doku and Rajan Scherki subsequently scored to seal the victory for the away team.

In a post-match interview, Iraola stated frankly, "We played two completely different games, with the red card as the dividing line. Before the red card in the first 62 minutes, I think we were the better team, creating chances and being very aggressive."

"After the red card, the opponent clearly gained the upper hand and converted it into a goal. The players gave their all today, and the home fans' performance was impeccable."

Iraola strongly questioned the referee's decision-making, particularly regarding Hrafenberg's first yellow card: "Ryan's first yellow card was absolutely not a card. In such a high-profile match, the challenge was just a minor contact like stepping on a toe."

"The referee didn't even blow the whistle immediately. Anderson took two steps before falling to the ground. Besides, we had nine players tracking back and were in a safe midfield area. This decision not only caused trouble for the referee but also put us on the defensive."

Iraola also mentioned Ronald Araujo's yellow card for complaining at the start of the season: "If we follow the textbook strictly, I will be watching closely all season to see if every time someone complains, a yellow card must be shown."
