Newcastle United midfielder Guimarães is interested in joining Arsenal.

Premier League club Arsenal are preparing to increase their efforts to sign Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães.

Sources indicate that Arsenal had received positive signals from the player expressing his desire to join, but a significant disagreement between the two clubs over the transfer fee has become the main obstacle to the deal.

Arsenal have been monitoring the 28-year-old Brazilian midfielder's situation through intermediaries and have indicated their willingness to pay around £60 million for the transfer, but Newcastle United have explicitly rejected the offer.

Newcastle United are reluctant to let Guimarães go. In the same transfer window, the team has already lost several key players. Anthony Gordon transferred to Barcelona for £69.3 million, while Sandro Tonali has agreed to join Tottenham for up to £100 million.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is well aware that losing Guimarães would severely damage the team's squad depth.

Currently, Newcastle United holds the upper hand in the negotiations. Guimarães' current contract runs until 2028, and the club has a one-year option to extend it. Although the club had previously tried to negotiate a contract extension with him, they were unable to stop the player's desire to transfer.

Arsenal have not yet held formal face-to-face negotiations with Newcastle United. The transfer will now depend on whether Guimarães takes a hard line to force the club to release the player, or whether Newcastle United lowers their asking price.
