An agreement has been reached for Andoni Iraola to become Liverpool manager.

Premier League giants Liverpool have announced that Andoni Iraola from Spain has reached an agreement with the club and will become the new manager of the "Reds" in the new season.

In the 2025/26 Premier League season, Liverpool were unable to maintain a consistent performance and ultimately finished in 5th place with a Champions League spot, while Sloot had already left the club earlier.

Bournemouth, under the leadership of Andoni Iraola, secured their first European qualification that season.

In an interview, 43-year-old Andoni Iraola said, "I'm really excited. Everyone knows Liverpool and knows it's a great club, a club with a rich history and one of the biggest clubs in the world. But when you really get to know the club, I've always felt it's a very special club. You don't really need many reasons to be attracted to Liverpool, because Liverpool is Liverpool."

"Of course, the atmosphere, the fans, the club culture, the player roster, and the opportunity to coach world-class players and compete for various titles all make this extremely attractive. I don't think there's a more appealing challenge. Such opportunities are hard to come by, so I can't wait to get started."

Reflecting on the clashes between Liverpool and Bournemouth, Andoni Iraola said, "I was on the opposite side, and I still remember Chiesa's goal in the final moments of the first game of the new season. It was 2-2, and we thought we might be able to take something away from Anfield. But then he scored, and the whole stadium erupted. It was crazy. And now, I want to experience it from the other side."

“When you first arrive at a new club, I think you have to prove yourself first and earn your place, and I hope to do that as soon as possible so that I can celebrate victories with the fans and truly be a part of the celebration.”

Andoni Iraola continued, “In daily life, I may be a relatively calm and rational person. But when the game starts, or when the team scores a goal and needs to celebrate, there is always a force that is ignited within me. This inner energy is indispensable, whether as a player, a fan, or a manager. And there is no place better than Anfield Stadium to experience all of this.”

As for his goals after taking charge of Liverpool, Andoni Iraola said, "Liverpool has given me the opportunity to manage top players, and having top players means having the opportunity to compete for and win championships."

“When you come to a new club, you can’t make any guarantees to everyone or promise any achievements. But I am very clear about what kind of club I have come to and what the outside world expects of me, and I am ready to meet the challenge.”
