Liverpool announced on their official website on Friday that they have extended the contract of Hungary international midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.
According to Liverpool's official statement, Szoboszlai has signed a new long-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2031.
After completing his contract extension procedures, Szoboszlai, who was interviewed by the Liverpool official website again, said: "This is probably the most important day of my life. Of course, there are a few things more important than this – probably my first signing for Liverpool, and of course, the birth of my child. But in terms of my football career, I can say with certainty that today is definitely in the top three. I am very happy."
"I can't wait to come back here again and again. As I have said many times, I am happy to be here. I am happy that we finally came together and completed the signing."
"I think making decisions is always easy, especially at a club like Liverpool. When it came to signing, I agreed quickly. But my answer has always been Liverpool. As I said, I'm really, really happy. And for me, I know this place is like a big family, and I want to be a part of it."
"Three years have gone by so fast, it feels like a dream. I feel like I've completely changed as a person, and completely changed as a player. I feel like I'm improving every year."
"Besides football, I've also become a father and a husband. So, I've experienced a lot of changes in the past three years, but I think my life is moving in a positive direction. I'm happy for my family, for myself, for the club, and for my football career. So, I'm really happy."
This contract extension completely dispels rumorus claiming that Szoboszlai is determined to join his former teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konaté at Real Madrid.
At the same time, it also confirms that the online rumours which claimed that the Reds will sell him and use his revenue from his transfer fee to bring in Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton are completely untrue.
