FIFA launch independent disciplinary investigation into Argentina's unsportsmanlike conduct against Spain players

FIFA has officially announced a disciplinary investigation into the violent clashes that erupted after the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.

Following the widely watched final, multiple physical altercations broke out, and several key Argentine players now face severe suspensions.

After the final whistle blew to seal the World Cup victory for Spain on Sunday, chaos ensued. Argentine player Nanavil Molina rushed onto the field and struck Spanish captain Rodri in the abdomen.

Simultaneously, a large-scale brawl broke out near the halfway line, during which Leandro Paredes grabbed Eric Garcia by the throat and then pushed him to the ground.

Referee Slavko Vencic showed Paredes a straight red card after the match. Prior to this, Enzo Fernandez had already been sent off with a red card late in regular time, and Argentine coach Scaloni and three other Argentine players had received yellow cards.

FIFA's Disciplinary Committee, in an official statement, clearly stated that it has appointed a disciplinary and ethics inspector to review the match report and conduct a full investigation into whether any personnel violated disciplinary guidelines after the match.

In addition, FIFA is also simultaneously investigating the Argentine team's misconduct after their semi-final victory over England. At that time, some Argentine players celebrated by displaying political banners involving territorial sovereignty.

Because the International Football Association Board (IFAB) strictly prohibits any form of political statement made on the field, FIFA has authorized the authorities to investigate this matter. Depending on the investigation's findings, the players and personnel involved could face penalties such as suspensions.
