Nottingham Forest have announced the official signing of Xavier Schlager to the team on a two-year contract.

Nottingham Forest have completed a major signing this summer, officially signing Austrian international Xavier Schlager. The two sides have reached a two-year agreement, and the midfielder becomes the first new signing under Oliver Glasner's management.  

Before joining Nottingham Forest, Xavier Schlager had played four seasons for RB Leipzig, serving as the team's vice-captain in the 2025/26 season. Last season, he made 30 appearances for Leipzig in all competitions. During this summer's World Cup, the Austrian midfielder started all four of his national team's matches, increasing his international appearances to 55.  

Xavier Schlager is a well-rounded midfielder who primarily operates in the central area. He possesses abundant running ability and exquisite footwork, and with his aggressive pressing, tough attitude, and excellent ability to advance the ball, he has become a crucial part of the team's midfield.  

With his move to Nottingham Forest, Xavier Schlager will once again work alongside head coach Oliver Glasner. The two previously played together for two seasons at Wolfsburg, leading the team to the Europa League Round of 16 and a fourth-place finish in the Bundesliga, securing Champions League qualification.  

Speaking about his feelings on joining Nottingham Forest, Xavier Schlager couldn't hide his excitement, saying, "I am deeply honored to be a part of Nottingham Forest. It is a historic and accomplished club that has twice reached the top of the European Cup under the leadership of Brian Clough. I am very excited to be here now, to take on new challenges, and to fight alongside a group of excellent teammates."
