Liverpool completes contract extension with English goalkeeper Freddie Woodman..

Liverpool announced on its official website on Thursday that the club has renewed the contract of its English goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.

According to Liverpool's official statement, Woodman has signed on a new short-term one-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2027.

After completing his contract extension procedures, Woodman, who was interviewed by the Liverpool official website again, said: "To be honest, I am really happy. The experience last season was of great personal significance to me. After the return of the pre-season, the club extended an olive branch to me again, hoping that I can stay with the team. I am simply ecstatic. I am really proud to be able to renew my contract and continue to be a part of this great club."

"Of course, it feels very special to be able to stay at Liverpool, a mixture of pride and mixed emotions."

About Freddie Woodman

The 29-year-old Woodman was born in Croydon, England on March 4, 1997. He is 1.88 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper. His father Andy is also a former goalkeeper and is currently manager of newly-promoted EFL League One side Bromley.

Woodman joined the Crystal Palace youth academy under the arrangement of his father since he was a child. In 2013, he moved to Newcastle United's youth academy with his father. He was promoted to the first team the following year and was successively loaned out to Hartlepool United, Crawley Town and Kilmarnock.

After returning to the team following his loan spell, Woodman made his Newcastle United first-team debut in an English FA Cup match in January 2018.

Soon after, he played for Swansea City and Bournemouth, on-loan again.

It is worth mentioning that during these years of being out-on-loan, Woodman has won multiple tournaments for England's youth national teams, including the FIFA U21s World Cup, and even helped Swansea City qualify for the EFL Championship promotion play-offs. His ability has long been recognized.

In the summer of 2022, Woodman joined Preston North End for £4.5 million.

While playing for Preston, Woodman helped the club avoid relegation for three consecutive years.

After leaving the club upon contract expiration in the summer of 2025, Woodman joined Liverpool as a free agent.

As the second backup goalkeeper, Woodman played 4 times for the Premier League giants last season and kept 4 clean sheets.
