Olympiacos announced on their official website on Thursday that Nottingham Forest's German goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, has joined the club as a free agent after his contract has expired.
According to the Greek Super League giants' official statement, Ortega has signed on a short-term one-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2027, with an option to extend for a further year.
About Stefan Ortega
The 33-year-old Stefan Ortega was born on November 6, 1992, in Hofgeismar, Germany. He is 1.85 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper. He holds dual German and Spanish citizenship.
Ortega played for the youth academy of non-league club Jahn Calden, and he later also played for the youth academies of Baunatal and Hessen Kassel. In 2007, Ortega joined Arminia Bielefeld's youth academy before completing his Arminia Bielefeld first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in October 2011.
During his three-year spell at Arminia Bielefeld, Ortega helped the club won one 3. Liga title.
After his contract expired in the summer of 2014, Ortega joined 1860 Munich on a free transfer.
Following the club's relegation, Ortega returned to Arminia Bielefeld on a free transfer in the summer of 2017.
During this spell, his outstanding performances led the team to promotion to the Bundesliga in 2020, attracting the attention of Bayer Leverkusen.
After his contract expired in the summer of 2022, Ortega joined Manchester City on a free transfer.
During his three-and-a-half-year spell with the Cityzens, Ortega won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, one Community Shield, one UEFA Champions League title, one UEFA Super Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup with the club.
On the 2026 winter transfer window deadline day, Ortega moved to Nottingham Forest for £500,000.
Last season, Ortega made only 10 appearances for the Premier League club in all competitions, conceding 12 goals and keeping 4 clean sheets, helping the team surprising reached the UEFA Europa League semi-final.
