August 2nd - Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant praised the revamped Philadelphia 76ers. He believes that the star-studded lineup of LeBron James, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey possesses enough offensive firepower to compete for the 2027 NBA championship.
Durant stated that the 76ers' current offensive talent reminds him of the star-studded lineup he had with the Golden State Warriors. "Back then, we had three scorers averaging over 20 points per game, and people said that Warriors team was unfair. Now the 76ers have four scorers averaging 25 points per game, and they are definitely championship contenders and a team worth watching."
When asked about LeBron James's decision to join the 76ers, Durant said he was completely unaware beforehand but believed the decision was significant for the league. "Philadelphia has a great fanbase and market, which will bring more attention to the NBA."
In addition, Durant expressed his hope to represent the U.S. men's basketball team at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, aiming for his fifth Olympic gold medal. He stated that his selection ultimately depends on the decision of USA Basketball and General Manager Grant Hill, adding, "I will maintain my best form and hope to receive a call-up, but there are many other excellent players who are also eligible."
