Rennes officially announce the signing of Toulouse's England U23s international center-back Charlie Cresswell..

Rennes announced on their official website on Thursday that they have signed England U23s international center-back Charlie Cresswell from Toulouse.

According to Rennes' official statement, Cresswell has signed on a long-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2031.

After completing his transfer procedures, Cresswell, who was interviewed by the Rennes official website for the first time, said: "There have been many rumours about me joining Rennes over the past few weeks. It feels fantastic to finally be here and make it a reality. I'm really happy."

"I had two wonderful years at Toulouse, and I couldn't have found anything better, but that's football, and being able to compete in European competitions is a very important decision."

"The club has a very interesting development plan, and I think the team this year is excellent. I hope we can achieve great things."

About Charlie Cresswell

The 23-year-old Cresswell was born on August 17, 2002, in Preston, England. He is 1.90 meters tall and plays as a center-back. His father, Richard, is a former legendary Preston striker and is currently a coach of Leeds United's youth academy. His younger brother, Alfie, is a defensive midfielder who is currently playing for Leeds United's U21s team.

Like his brother, Cresswell joined Leeds United's youth academy at a young age under his father's arrangement and completed his first-team debut in a Carabao Cup match in September 2020. 

The following July, Cresswell was loaned-out to Millwall. During his time there, his outstanding performances attracted the attention of several top-flight clubs.

In July 2024, Cresswell joined Toulouse for €3 million.

During his two-year spell at Toulouse, Cresswell made 64 appearances for the Ligue 1 club in all competitions, scoring 6 goals and providing 2 assists.
