Spanish defender Cucurella recently completed his first training session at Real Madrid and looks forward to meeting fans and other teammates, expressing his belief that Real Madrid will achieve great things in the future.
The 28-year-old Cucurella joined Real Madrid in June, signing a six-year contract. Prior to that, Cucurella played for Chelsea, making 34 appearances in the 2025/26 Premier League season, contributing one goal and four assists.
It's worth mentioning that Cucurella also won the 2026 World Cup with Spain last month.
In an interview, Cucurella said, "I've been waiting for a long time, but I'm finally here. I've trained with my teammates and gotten to know everyone. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better and having a great season together."
“It’s an honor because not many people have the opportunity to say they’ve worn this jersey. We’ve witnessed many great legends, and this is a club with a long history, one of the biggest in Europe. It’s an honor to be here, and more importantly, it’s a reward for all the hard work and dedication I’ve put in throughout my career.”
Cucurella shared, "Everything is going very well, and I'm really looking forward to meeting my teammates. I've already chatted with some of the teammates who messaged me, and they all welcomed me very much. I'm starting to get used to everything here and slowly getting into training mode because the exciting moments are about to begin."
“I am a passionate, individualistic, and joyful person, and I am also a very hardworking person. Facing such a group of talented players, if we can stay united and become a truly outstanding team both on and off the field, then I believe we can achieve great things.”
In addition, Cucurella said, "For a player, especially someone who has been playing football since childhood, it's really hard to refuse the opportunity to play for a club like this. When the opportunity came to me, I didn't hesitate for a second. I'm really looking forward to playing in our first home game and meeting the fans. I've played against them at the Bernabéu before, and I've also played there with the national team."
"But as a player on the home team playing there, hearing the team anthem, hearing the fans' voices, and seeing the fans when the team bus arrives at the stadium—I've seen these scenes in documentaries before, and in important matches, the atmosphere is truly incredible."
