Thunder, Hawks, and Mavericks complete a three-team trade, with Dort joining Atlanta.

July 22nd - According to ESPN, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Atlanta Hawks, and Dallas Mavericks have completed a three-team trade. The Thunder sent Lugancz Dort to the Hawks and received three future second-round draft picks; 2024 number one overall pick Zachary Rissacheh was sent to the Mavericks, and guard Ryan Nemhardt joined the Hawks.

This is part of the Thunder's ongoing roster and salary structure adjustments this summer. Through trades involving Dort, Isaiah Joe, and Aaron Wiggins, the Thunder have acquired seven second-round draft picks while further reducing salary cap pressure. The team exercised its $17.7 million team option on Dort in exchange for future assets and created a $17 million trade exception.

Thunder general manager Sam Presti stated that the trade was primarily driven by long-term financial planning. "It's a financial decision; the money saved this summer and over the past few years will be reinvested in the future development of the team."

Dort played 69 games for the Thunder last season , averaging 8.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. In his seven seasons with the Thunder , he averaged 11.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game and was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2025 .

21- year-old Lisa Shee was in his second NBA season last year, playing 67 games and averaging 9.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. He finished second in the 2024-25 Rookie of the Year voting, behind only Spurs guard Stephen Castle .

23- year-old Nemhard played 60 games last season, averaging 6.6 points, 5.3 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game.
