The Chicago Bulls announced in a statement that they have officially signed 24-year-old free agent guard Jordan Hawkins. As a corresponding adjustment, they waived Isaiah Stevens, who had an Exhibit 10 contract.
Hawkins was traded from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Memphis Grizzlies in September, but the Grizzlies ultimately waived him. After a 48-hour waiver period, Hawkins reached an agreement in principle with the Bulls to join them.
According to multiple sources, the two sides signed a one-year, nearly $680,000 two-way contract. Hawkins' arrival also means that the Bulls' two-way contract roster is now full, with the remaining two players being Toby Awaka and Jalin Cyrus.
As the 14th overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft, Hawkins spent his first three seasons with the Pelicans. To date, he has played 174 regular season games for the Pelicans, averaging 8.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 18.2 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 37.4%, a three-point percentage of 34.8%, and a free throw percentage of 82.9%.
Hawkins also played twice during the playoffs, averaging only 2 rebounds in 4.0 minutes per game.
After settling in Chicago, Hawkins will be entering his fourth NBA season. Before switching to a standard contract, he can only play a maximum of 50 regular season games for the Bulls.
According to the official announcement, Hawkins will wear jersey number 15 for the Bulls.
